Why should I Lead A Walk?

Without walk leaders we would not have any walks. We are currently very short of volunteer walk leaders. This means that we are not able to put on a walk every Thursday and Sunday.

Many walk leaders enjoy sharing their favourite walks with the group. Perhaps you could share yours.

I Can't Lead A Walk as I Do Not Know What To Do?

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. who will arrange for an experienced walk leader to buddy up with you until you feel confident. Or simply ask one of the walk leaders yourself if they will help you.

Where Can I Learn More About Leading Walks?

First contact  our This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and let them know that you are interested in learning how to lead a walk. They will sign you up on Assemble (The Ramblers Volunteer Portal) where the training courses are.

Once you are registered on Assemble you will have access to the training. This article explains how to access it,

I Can't Read A Map

Although it is useful to be able to read a map it not essential, We have over 100 walks written up on our web site. Have a look on our festival site to download walks.

I Do Not Have Any Maps

If you have a smartphone then you can get access to all the ordinance survey maps online. Many people in the group use these. Details can be found here

I Do Not Know Where The Car Parks Are To Start A Walk?

How Do I Find The Post Code And Grid Ref Of A Point On A Map

I Do Not Know How To Do A Risk Assessment

This has already been done for you. All you have to do is read it and add risks you think are specific to your walk. The generic risk assessment and the process for submitting a walk can be found here.
