ABERGAVENNY weekend --- September 2008
The autumn self-booking weekend this year was in the Abergavenny area. Rick had organised 5 days of walking with a choice between long and short walks most days. We also went to a Brecon Beacon Society lecture one evening and had a meal in Abergavenny on another.

Friday's walk was "on the way" at Westwood Forest near Newport. Saturday's walks started from Goytre Wharf beside the Brecon canal and both passed the Goose and Cuckoo pub. On Sunday we all climbed Skirrid Fawr, with those on the longer walk also going to White Castle. The long walk on Monday went up Blorenge from Llanfoist via the Punchbow, while the shorter walk also went to the Punchbowl. The inclement weather on Tuesday meant all but two of those opting to walk chose the leisurely acent of the Sugar Loaf.

Looking back on a memorable weekend

We don't really need Peggy's GPS to tell us that's the top straight ahead

In this weather Rod isn't the only one who can't see much

Are we sure we're enjoying this?
